Elon Musk funds tunnelling plans with flamethrowers

Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk’s tunnelling plans have taken an unexpected turn after his tunnelling firm, The Boring Company, began selling flamethrowers.
The company’s move into merchandising began last year when it sold 50,000 branded baseball caps. At the time Musk promised on Twitter that if 50,000 were sold, the company would start selling flamethrowers.
Now it appears Musk has made good on his promise, selling the flamethrowers for $500 (£353) each. According to Musk, more than 17,500 flamethrowers have been sold since they went on sale on Saturday.
Reaction to the stunt has been mixed, with Californian Assembly member Miguel Santiago immediately pledging to block sales of the flamethrowers with new legislation.
