Assemblymember Rodriguez’s Statement on Shooting Death of Jonah Hwang

For immediate release:

As you may have read in the paper this morning, last night a young boy was killed during a drive-by shooting in Pomona. While the police search for answers, my wife and I extend our deepest condolences to the family. Losing a child is every parent’s greatest fear and this shooter will be brought to justice.  These acts impact an entire community; and to think that my own grandchildren were outside playing on this same block prior to the incident.

In the past year, thirteen homicide incidents have occurred in Pomona. Our communities deserve to be safe and secure. I will be working closer than ever with state and local law enforcement and community support groups in Pomona to address these violent acts. Having been born and raised in Pomona, I take pride in this community and it is a great place to live and raise a family. We must all work together, with law enforcement, to keep our community safe.
