Asm. Rodriguez Issues Statement on Senate Bill 1: Transportation Funding Agreement

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO)-  Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D-Pomona) issued the following statement in response to the April  6, 2017 vote on Senate Bill 1 for a new statewide transportation funding agreement.

“After careful thought and consideration, I cast my vote today to support Senate Bill 1 because we critically need a new approach to improving our roads and reducing traffic. Transportation funds from this bill will more than double for California and flow directly into our cities, putting people to work on our roads. From fixing potholes along the 10 and 60 freeways to improving city streets in disarray, SB 1 is a win for our community. With this bill, we also have the opportunity to widen the 71 freeway and to fund projects like the Gold Line extension to Montclair.

I also understand that a bill like this can be burdensome for working class families. That is why I am committed to ensuring that every new dollar is spent as promised, going directly to where we need it most. I am committed to supporting every program that will improve public transit in our district, alleviate congestion and reduce commute times. I intend to hold the Governor and CalTrans accountable to the promises made to Californians and our community.

It’s time to improve Californians infrastructure.
