(Pomona)- Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (Pomona) is pleased to announce that Assembly Bill 2885 and Assembly Bill 2564 were signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown today at a ceremony in San Francisco. AB 2885 which will help bring state subsidies (rebates) on clean vehicles to low income communities. AB 2564 will create large penalties for illegal trucks that cheat the system and pour dirty emissions into the air. Both bills have been championed for the Inland Empire which has some of the worst air pollution in the state.

“Historically forgotten, the Inland Empire and its communities suffer some of the dirtiest air in state history. Today’s actions, by Governor Brown further help to change that reality. By bringing new investment in clean vehicles and cracking down on illegal polluters, we are taking steps to clean up the air in our communities and help families live healthier lives. By working together with community leaders and industry partners, we have been able to craft policies that benefit all stakeholders. This is an important conversation and I look forward to building on this year’s successes in the next Legislative Session.”
