(Sacramento)- Today Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D- Pomona), Chair of the Committee on Emergency Management, issued the following statement after the Legislature approved the 2021-22 State Budget:
“The State Budget approved today shows that California is ready to come back from the COVID-19 pandemic with new momentum and opportunities for all Californians. We are reinvesting in our communities with new funding for students at every level of education, expanding healthcare coverage, and protecting good-paying jobs. This budget also helps plan and prepare our State for a serious drought and already active wildfire season. I am proud of the commitment our leaders have shown to increasing California's capabilities during an emergency- creating new positions at CalFIRE, boosting our resilience at places like fairgrounds, and increasing support for Disaster Assistance. California will have a challenging summer ahead of it, but I am confident this budget leaves us more prepared.”
