Assemblymember Rodriguez Celebrates Budget Accomplishments to Directly Benefit the 52nd Assembly District

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember Rodriguez championed several budget allocations for the fiscal year 2022-23 that will significantly benefit the 52nd Assembly District. Specifically, the State budget will include $10.5 million for the renovation and creation of performance and production spaces at five school sites throughout Pomona. 

The State budget will also include $3.4 million to expand workforce development and career exploration for Pomona Unified students. $1 million of this funding will cover the cost of workforce and career development within the manufacturing industry. The remaining $2.4 million is planned to cover the cost of workforce and career development within medical professions. 

“Having been born and raised in the great City of Pomona, I could not feel prouder to give back to the school district that helped shape me, my children, and now my grandchildren during our fundamental years. The new performing arts centers, coupled with workforce and career development within the manufacturing and medical fields at schools throughout Pomona, will provide our future leaders with more avenues of exploration as to what they are truly passionate about,” stated Assemblymember Rodriguez.

Additionally, the State budget will include $1 million to aid the Chino Chamber of Commerce in starting a new program to focus on the further development of entrepreneurship, the workforce, the economy, and leadership throughout the city. 

Funding for the Historical Society of Pomona Valley has also been allocated to help cover the costs of repairs to the Phillips Mansion that has stood strong for 117 years. This funding will also benefit the Ebell Museum of History. $3.2 million will be provided to preserve Pomona’s historical footprint. 

Looking ahead, $250 million from the General Fund in the 2023-24 Budget Act will be allocated to establish the Seismic Retrofitting Program for Soft Story Multifamily Housing. These seismic retrofits will protect individuals living in multifamily housing determined to be at risk of collapse in earthquakes. 

“I am pleased to have successfully fought for funding that will help shape the future of the 52nd District, and the state as a whole. The additional funding for the fiscal year 2023-24 will protect Californians when disaster strikes. The funding for seismic retrofits will prevent further disaster when this earthquake hits,” added Assemblymember Rodriguez.
