Assemblymember Rodriguez Presents State Budget Allocation Check Totaling $3.2 Million for the Historical Society of Pomona Valley

(Pomona, CA) – Today, Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D – Pomona) presented a check for a funding allocation he championed on behalf of the Historical Society of Pomona Valley. This funding totals $3.2 million to preserve Pomona's historical footprint.

"Having been born and raised in Pomona and raising my children and grandchildren here, I see the importance of maintaining our city's history and the magic it holds. That is why when I began thinking about what organizations in my communities I should fight to obtain funding for, the Historical Society felt like a no-brainer," stated Assemblymember Rodriguez.

The Phillips Mansion has stood strong in the city for 117 years and is now in need of repairs. A portion of this funding will go toward these repairs, and the other portion will benefit the Ebell Museum. These are both landmarks of the city and part of the history that the Historical Society of Pomona Valley works tirelessly to protect.

Pomona Valley has a remarkable history, and having a dedicated membership that works to preserve it is unique. The Historical Society of Pomona Valley works to protect important historic sites, records, and artifacts in the city. They also educate the public about the area's history to ensure future generations can appreciate it.

The Historical Society of Pomona Valley follows the motto that 'only by knowing where we have been can we know where we are headed,' and this sincerely resonates with me. Throughout my time in office, I always say that I never forget where I came from, and this partnership with the Historical Society solidifies both of our desires to maintain our roots that are deeply planted in Pomona," added Assemblymember Rodriguez.

Assemblymember Rodriguez (Twitter) represents the 53rd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, and Upland. He is Chair of the Assembly Committee on Emergency Management.
