This Saturday, November 26 is Small Business Saturday which serves as an important opportunity to show support for our many local small businesses.
One of the best investments we can make in our community is supporting local businesses. Local business owners are the backbone of California's economy. Contact my office or click here to learn about resources for small business owners.
Did you know there are more veterans that call California home than any other state? Join me on November 11 to pay tribute to our nation’s veterans who have honorably served and sacrificed for our country.
This year it was a privilege to honor Donald Vodvarka from Montclair as the Veteran of the Year from the 52nd Assembly District. Donald served in the Navy from 1945 to 1958, during which time he received a presidential commendation from President Harry S. Truman.
Let us commemorate Veterans Day by honoring their service, sharing their stories for the future generations, and providing them with the quality services and benefits they have earned and deserve.
More information on Veterans resources are available at my website.
It's time to "fall back" and turn our clocks one hour back to Pacific Standard Time at 2 a.m. on Sunday, November 6.
Also, this is a good time to ensure your smoke alarms are working and the batteries are up-to-date; and then check on the ones in the home of a parent, grandparent, or older neighbor. The conditions in California of dry wind and drought means we have seen more than our share of home fires and wildfires.
Lastly, confirm the age of the alarm too. The sensing technology wears out after ten years. An out of date alarm cannot safeguard your home and family against fires.
