SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Michelle Rodriguez took the oath of office to represent California’s 53rd Assembly District, which includes the cities of Pomona, Ontario, Chino, Upland, and Montclair. A lifelong resident, Assemblymember Michelle Rodriguez brings a unique blend of lived experience and public service to the Capitol, where she is committed to addressing the issues that matter most to her constituents.
As Assemblymember, Rodriguez will prioritize creating safer neighborhoods, improving air and water quality, and expanding access to affordable healthcare. She is dedicated to promoting economic growth and job creation, tackling homelessness with compassionate solutions, and ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women. Rodriguez is also focused on strengthening schools and higher education to better prepare students for success in an evolving workforce.

A survivor of gun violence, the mother of a deputy sheriff, and a dedicated Neighborhood Watch organizer, Rodriguez understands the challenges facing working families and the urgency of creating safer, more resilient communities. Her lived experiences fuel her determination to be a powerful advocate for public safety, equity, and opportunity in her district.
Assemblymember Rodriguez’s deep roots in the district are reflected in her lifelong dedication to service. As a mother, grandmother, healthcare professional, and public safety advocate, she has devoted her life to improving the lives of working families and strengthening the community she calls home.
