On April 22, we celebrate Earth Day in an effort to focus on and address the environmental issues of our time. To communities in the Inland Empire, that means getting outside and fighting for change.
On the first Earth Day in 1969, over 20 million Americans participated in "environmental teach-ins" in order to learn the facts about the harm happening to their environment. Now, more than half a billion people in more than 190 countries will celebrate the day by hosting activities centered around environmental education, action and change. We must continue to give our citizens the tools they need to be fluent in the concepts of climate change, so they are aware of the unprecedented threat it poses to our planet.
There are great events planned in the 52nd Assembly District communities, and I hope to see you there, working to build a cleaner and safer environment for our families.
