AB-1747 School Safety Plans

Assembly Bill 1747 requires schools to develop safety plans in order to prepare and respond to violent incidents on or near school sites. By establishing safety guidelines which focus on preparedness to violent incidents, with assistance from the California Department of Education and Department of Justice, schools will be a safer learning environment for all children.

AB-1861 Human Trafficking Prevention for Parents and Guardians of At-Risk Youth

Assembly Bill 1861 will require schools to provide students and parents with vital information, training, and education on how social media and mobile phone applications are used to target vulnerable children for human trafficking and how to prevent it.

AB-1912 Public Employees’ Retirement: Joint Powers Agreements: Liability

Assembly bill 1912 protects the retirement security of the employees and retirees of a Joint Power Authority (JPA) by requiring member agencies to apportion the existing retirement liability of the JPA if it contracts with, or participates in, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) or any other public employee retirement system. In addition, this bill would prohibit CalPERS from contracting with a JPA in the future, unless its member agencies are jointly and severally liable for the JPA’s retirement obligations.

AB-1998 The Safer Opioid Prescription Act

Assembly Bill 1998 would limit opioid prescriptions to a three day supply and require medical practitioners to inform patients of the risks associated with opioid use and provide information for psychological counseling and behavioral therapy, in some cases.

AB-2028 Prisons: Security Assessment

Assembly Bill 2028  would require the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to conduct inspections of all of California’s state prisons and report to the Joint Legislative Audit Committee on the findings of that report including the deficiencies found at the prisons. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation must immediately resolve any deficiencies identified in the report of findings, or create a corrective action plan for those that cannot be immediately resolved.

AB-2102 The Mutual Aid Response Act of 2018

Assembly Bill 2102 expedites the process of recognizing out-of-state firefighter/paramedics entering California to assist with fire suppression efforts. This bill would grant automatic permission to out-of-state fire and paramedic personnel from public agencies to use their emergency medical training as part of a mutual aid agreement during a declared state of emergency.
 

AB-2214 The Safe Sober Living Home Act of 2018

Assembly Bill 2214 will allow sober living home owners and operators the ability to apply for state recognized certification if the home meets certain standards and regulations. It will also define a “drug and alcohol-free residence” as a residential property that supports personal recovery in a drug and alcohol-free environment for individuals who are recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction.

AB-2360 School district and food bank partnerships

Assembly Bill 2360 will facilitate partnerships between school districts and local food banks to achieve increased student access to fresh produce food items.

AB-2417 Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority

Assembly Bill 2417 will add a seat on the Metro Foothill Construction Authority Board of Directors for an appointee of the City of Montclair.

AB-2564 Civil Penalties: Glider Vehicles

Assembly Bill 2564 creates a minimum civil penalty under the Health and Safety Code for trucking fleets found to be operating non-compliant gliders.

AB-2713 Reporting of Sexual Harassment Complaints at State Agencies

Assembly Bill 2713 creates a centralized process to track sexual harassment complaints received and filed by state employees in each state agency and department, and the amount paid to settle these complaints. Findings would be collected into a report and made available to the legislature and the public.

AB-2885 Zero Emission Vehicles Rebates in Disadvantaged Communities

Assembly Bill 2885 will augment the Clean Vehicle Rebate Project to provide additional incentives and prioritization for residents of disadvantaged communities.

AB-3137 State Property: Conveyance: City of Pomona

Assembly Bill 3137 is a district bill that would eliminate an unnecessary deed restriction on the East County Fire Training Center housed on the former Lanterman Developmental Center site so that the City of Pomona may sell the property.

ACR-226 Emergency Medical Services Week

ACR 226 would declare May 20th 2018 through May 26th 2018 as Emergency Medical Services Week in California.

ACR-236 Pomona Police Officer Greggory Casillas Memorial Highway

ACR 236 designates a portion of Interstate 10 (I-10) as the “Pomona Police Officer Greggory Casillas Memorial Highway”.
