Participate in the Great Shakeout

-

With over 37 million people living and working in California, a major earthquake could cause unprecedented devastation.

What we do now, before a big earthquake, will determine what our lives will be like afterwards. With earthquakes being an inevitable part of California’s future, we must act quickly to ensure that disasters do not become catastrophes.

Make sure you’re prepared by participating in the Great California Shakeout, a statewide earthquake drill held annually on the third Thursday of October. The 2016 drill will be at 10:20 a.m. on October 20.

The 2016 Shakeout drill will be the largest preparedness event in world history. It is organized by the Earthquake Country Alliance.

To participate, go to www.ShakeOut.org/california/register and pledge your family, school, business, or organization’s participation in the drill. Registered participants will receive information on how to plan their drill and create a dialogue about earthquake safety.
