The informational hearing will feature presenters from Los Angeles International Airport, the California Emergency Medical Services Authority, the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, and various other state and local law enforcement officials. The committee will focus on coordination between law enforcement officials and emergency medical responders during active shooter incidents.
“I have been an Emergency Medical Technician for 30 years and I know from personal experience that reaching a trauma victim as quickly as possible increases their chances of survival,” said Rodriguez. “I have heard stories from people who have said that it took a long time for injured victims at LAX to receive medical treatment. I want to see what lessons we can learn from the incident and how we can apply those lessons moving forward.”
Assemblymember Rodriguez has authored ACR 94 acknowledging the increase in active shooting incidents and encouraging law enforcement, fire and emergency medical services agencies to coordinate standard operating procedures and training efforts in order to more efficiently respond to active shooting incidents.
Assemblymember Rodriguez is Chair of the Assembly Select Committee on Local Emergency Preparedness, and Vice Chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management. He represents the 52nd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona and portions of unincorporated Fontana.
