Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez Congratulates Local Businesses On Funding Award

For immediate release:

Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez congratulates CTP Transportation Products, LLC and Southwest Carpenters Training Fund, both of Ontario on being approved for job-training programs funded by the Employment Training Panel.

CTP Transportation Products will be the recipient of $126,060, which will fund training to update the skills of 150 employees and help the business address out-of-state competition. CTP Transportation Products is a leading producer of commercial vehicle wheels, outdoor power equipment, trailers and other industrial equipment.

Southwest Carpenters Training Fund is a non-profit Taft-Hartley Trust Fund that is committed to providing  training to those interested in a career in the various carpentry fields. They will receive $1,172,884 to update the skills and training of 616 employees.

“It is important that our local businesses have the resources they need to be competitive in today’s business climate and to create good-paying local jobs,” said Assemblymember Rodriguez. “I am glad that California is investing in our local businesses and making these training programs possible.”

The Employment Training Panel is a performance-based state program which funds employer-driven training.  The funds are used for training of current workers, training for unemployed workers and training for newly-hired employees to ensure that employers have the trained workers they need to remain competitive.  Funding is not given to employers until a trainee has completed training and a 90-day job retention period and earns a required minimum wage.

Assemblymember Rodriguez represents the 52nd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona and portions of unincorporated Fontana.
