Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez named Ontario City Councilwoman Debra Dorst-Porada as the 2015 Woman of the Year for Assembly District 52.
“Councilwoman Porada is a shining example of a dedicated community representative,” said Rodriguez. “I see Debra and almost every community event I attend in Ontario. She has been instrumental in revitalizing the Downtown area and bringing jobs to our community. She truly does go above and beyond for the residents of Ontario.”
Debra has been a member of the Ontario City Council for 6 years and she has been an Ontario resident for 32 years. Debra has been instrumental in keeping and creating jobs in Ontario and providing residents with the best police and fire/paramedic services the region has to offer. As a registered nurse she promotes disaster/earthquake preparedness and encourages residents to have a 10 day supply of food and water in their homes.
“I belong to a club of wonderful people,” said Porada. “Ontario Kiwanis, Ontario Heritage, Chaffey Community Museum of Art, Museum of History and Art Ontario, Euclid Avenue Nativity Scenes, Kids Come First Clinic, my family, my co-workers, my council colleagues and Ontario city staff. Great things happen when great people work together and support each other. I am grateful to every one of them.”
Beginning in 1987, the California Legislative Women’s Caucus sets aside a day in March during Women’s History Month to honor exemplary women throughout California. Honorees travel to Sacramento and are recognized during a ceremony on the Assembly Floor. This year’s ceremony will take place Monday, March 9th.
Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez represents the 52nd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona and portions of unincorporated Fontana.
