(SACRAMENTO)- A week-long celebration honoring emergency medical responders kicked off in Sacramento today. Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D-Chino), an emergency medical technician for over 30 years, released the following statement:
“Thirty years ago I became an Emergency Medical Technician because I wanted to help people when they needed it the most,” said Rodriguez. “The men and women I have worked alongside are some of the most dedicated and heroic people I have known. Emergency Medical Services Week is an opportunity to say thank you and honor their service, courage and devotion.”
Assemblymember Rodriguez introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution 171 which establishes the week of May 15th through May 21st as Emergency Medical Services Week in California. This week coincides with the 42nd Anniversary of National Emergency Medical Services Week which began in 1974 to draw attention to the sacrifice, dedication and commitment of emergency medical personnel.

Wednesday, May 18th
CPR Day at the Capitol
EMTs with the CA Ambulance Association will be visiting legislative offices between the hours to offer Compression-Only CPR training to capitol staff.
Thursday, May 19th
Emergency Responders to be Honored on the Assembly Floor

Assemblymember Rodriguez will present ACR 171 and honor a group of emergency Responders who will be present in the Assembly chamber.
Assemblymember Rodriguez is Chair of the Joint Committee on Emergency Management and the Select Committee on Local Emergency Preparedness. He represents the 52nd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona and portions of unincorporated Fontana.
