Assemblymember Rodriguez Brings Awareness to Women’s Health Issues at 6th Annual Women’s Health Fair

(Pomona, CA) – Today, Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D – Pomona) partnered with local organizations to host a collaborative health fair. This health fair provided various services and raised awareness of women’s health issues. Community members from all across the 52nd Assembly District participated in this health fair, and it proved to be an excellent opportunity to ensure state policies reflect the priorities of our families.

“Hosting this annual health fair is important to me because I highly value the health and wellness of women and families in our community. October is breast cancer awareness month, which further highlights the importance of bringing resources for the women in our community to stay on top of their health,” stated Assemblymember Rodriguez.

Ensuring women and families have access to the health services they need is essential. Not everyone knows all of the available resources for various kinds of health issues. Having a resource fair, like this one, with all those services in one place, helps equip women with further knowledge surrounding their health.

Some partner organizations that provided resources included LA County Fire Station 182, NAMI, Paws 4 Success, Pomona Valley HMC, Planned Parenthood, Project Sister Family Services, Western University, Just Us 4 Youth, Tri-City, Runners de Corazon, Promoters for Better Health, LA County Department of Public Health, and Casa Colina.

Additional organizations included Cricket Wireless, Chaffey College, The City of Pomona Housing, Credit Union of Southern California, East Valley Community Health Center, Pomona Fairplex, Foothill Family, God’s Pantry, Gold’s Gym Montclair, IEHP, Rumsen Ama Turataj Ohlone Tribe, and Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation.

“Providing access to all areas of health, whether that be physical, mental, or reproductive, helps to empower women in their everyday lives, and I am humbled to put on an event that provides further access for all women and families. Thank you again to all of our partners and residents that participated today,” added Assemblymember Rodriguez.

Assemblymember Rodriguez (Twitter) represents the 53rd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, and Upland. He is Chair of the Assembly Committee on Emergency Management.
