(Los Angeles, CA) – Today, Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D – Pomona) presented a check to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for a funding allocation he championed in the 2022-23 State Budget. A total of $20k was allocated to benefit the department’s Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB).
“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s SEB unit is made up of highly trained personnel, trained to respond to any type of high-risk situation within the county. This funding is essential for their ability to continue protecting our communities in such a profound way,” stated Assemblymember Rodriguez.
The SEB is a departmental support unit that provides various specialized services throughout the county. This full-time unit currently has five details within it, including a Special Enforcement Detail, Canine Detail, Emergency Services Detail, Arson Explosives Detail, and HazMat Detail.
The special details within the SEB unit hold unique training, experience, and expertise. What is so unique about this unit is that the details can function independently in their specialized areas or come together to respond to any threat throughout the county.
“I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s SEB unit for their dedication to service. Your expertise in running various kinds of operations, no matter the potential risk, shows your commitment to defending residents across the county. I look forward to seeing how this funding allows the unit to continue expanding their operations,” added Assemblymember Rodriguez.
Assemblymember Rodriguez (Twitter) represents the 53rd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, and Upland. He is Chair of the Assembly Committee on Emergency Management.
