Assemblymember Rodriguez Obtains Full Funding for Pomona Police Department’s Flock Camera System

For immediate release:

(Sacramento, CA) – Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D – Pomona) has successfully allocated funding in the State Budget to benefit the 53rd Assembly District significantly. Specifically, the budget includes $860,000 for Pomona Police Department’s Flock Camera system.

“I am incredibly proud to have obtained this funding that will greatly benefit my hometown of Pomona and the dedicated officers who work to protect it. As a career first responder and the father of a Sheriff’s Deputy, I know firsthand the dangers and difficulties that come with protecting your community. This funding will improve the safety of our officers while they are working to protect the safety of our community,” stated Assemblymember Rodriguez.

This funding will allow Pomona Police Department to rapidly expand a traffic camera network within the City of Pomona. The camera network will be instrumental in solving crimes.

The neighboring cities of Chino and Montclair have similar systems in place already, helping to reduce crime rates in each city and improving the safety of working conditions for law enforcement officers.

“I am very appreciative of Assemblymember Rodriguez’ continued support of the City of Pomona and the Pomona Police Department.  This new funding for our camera network will help the Police Department investigate Human Trafficking cases and other major crimes that occur in the city.  This will help us work towards a safer city for all our residents, rescue victims of Human Trafficking, and improve the quality of life for all,” stated Chief Michael Ellis, Pomona Police Department.

Assemblymember Rodriguez (Twitter) represents the 53rd Assembly District which includes the cities of Chino, Montclair, Ontario, Pomona, and Upland. He is Chair of the Assembly Committee on Emergency Management.
