Assemblymember Rodriguez Thanks First Responders for Stopping the Ontario Christian High School Shooter

For immediate release:

(ONTARIO, CA) — Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez, today, released the following statement:

"Thank you to our Ontario first responders for detaining the potential Ontario Christian High School shooter, and to the student who was brave enough to bring it to their attention. As a career first responder, parent of a deputy sheriff and firefighter, and former PTA president, I know the security of our children is important. Our children should be able to go to school without fear for their safety, parents and staff too. With bills in place like AB 1747 – The School Violence Prevention Act – we can protect our children with the continued collaboration of our first responders, mental health professionals, and school administrators to develop safety plans that prepare our children to respond to violent school-related incidents.”

“That collaboration helps to establish safety and preparedness guidelines to support our children in dealing with violent incidents, along with the “see something, say something” culture in our public schools – for those safer learning environments we want for all our children."
