(San Diego) - Working in the Emergency Medical Services field is very stressful. Assemblymember Freddie Rodriguez (D-Pomona) wrote Assembly Bill 263, the EMS Workers Bill of Rights, to reduce that stress by addressing inadequate rest breaks and violence in the workplace. AB 263 requires private EMS employers to provide 10-minute uninterrupted rest breaks to employees or provide an additional hour’s worth of pay if a rest break is not provided and requires better reporting of workplace violence against EMS providers. Rory Devine of NBC7 San Diego (KNSD-TV) focuses on the workplace violence portion of the legislation her story. Watch her report in this Assembly Asset video.
